T-Minus 4 days

Today was the day we received our commissioning from the church.  I feel especially blessed in that I was also comissioned by my church today, Bon Air Baptist, James River Campus, during the early service for the workers.  It is so humbling, yet empowering, to be prayed for with fellow Christians providing support by their laying on of hands.

It was also the day we got together to pack our group supplies and gifts into the team bags.  The packing went really well.  You could see the teamwork and coordination in motion.  We were able to get all the items packed into 11 team bags.  It really is a good thing the weight limit for luggage to Brazil is 70 pounds.  We have a couple of bags that are right at the limit.

Gary and Curt press the lid down to squeeze in everything.
There was a lot of scrambling to get it all packed.  That blurr is Chris.
We have our plans laid out for meeting together at the airport on Thursday.  I have been drafted to be the travel czar to lead the group through the check-in process.  I am sure the ticket counter there has experience in working with groups going on international travel.  Actually, I am really hoping and praying that they have lots of experience with it.

Our team is really diversified on talents, skills, knowledge, and perspectives.  What is really awesome is to see all that diversity focused on the task at hand.  Jesus taught about the body of the Church being like the human body.  There are many parts, each unique, with their own special function, and each part is needed for the entire body to function properly.  That is what this mission team is modeling.
